About Us:History:Warren J. Woodruff became involved in the roofing industry with his management of the roofing and siding business of Dallman & Cooper of Fond du Lac. Dallman & Cooper also sold hardware, tools, appliances and even Mercury Marine outboard motors. Warren resigned as President of Dallman & Cooper in 1956 and purchased the roofing and siding division and several warehouse buildings located at 279 Forest Ave. He operated as a sole proprietorship for several years until W. J. Woodruff Roofing Contractors, Inc. was incorporated on July 29, 1958.Markets:Both commercial and residential roofing jobs were done in the early years of the firm. Soon siding work was discontinued, and also residential roof work became a small part of the company's work. Commercial roofing work on businesses, schools, factories, shopping centers and paper mills became the main roofing work installed by W. J. Woodruff Roofing Contractors, Inc. Today, the firm continues to perform new construction and reroofing work.Management:When Warren J. Woodruff made the decision to purchase the roofing division of Dallman & Cooper he did not know that this company would be managed by his sons and then his grandsons.Warren's oldest son, Warren "Clark" Woodruff became involved in the roofing company in 1942. Clark served as President after Warren J. Woodruff's death in 1964. Clark handled the field supervision of the crews and equipment. He was well known to many building maintenance managers to which the company provided roofing services. Clark retired April 1, 1985 to Sun City West Arizona. He passed away on August 8, 1998. Warren's younger son, Watson B. Woodruff became involved in the roofing company in 1957. Watson managed the office and estimating work. Watson is well known in the roofing industry for his roofing knowledge. Watson retired March 31, 1998. James C. Woodruff joined the company in 1972 and worked with the roofing crews and is experienced in all roofing applications. He supervises the crews and equipment. As a project manager he has supervised crews working on large projects for paper mills, hospitals, and schools. Jeffery S. Woodruff joined the company in 1980 and worked with the roofing crews and is experienced in all roofing applications. As a sales manager he has worked on many projects for paper mills, retail stores, hospitals, and schools. Mark A. Woodruff joined the company in 1979 and manages the office, does inside sales, and does the estimating. Brian J. Zangl joined the company in 2003 when the assets of Zangl Roofing were purchased by W. J. Woodruff Roofing. He supervises the crews and equipment. Brian is very knowledgable in residential roofing and home construction details along with commercial roofing construction. James, Brian, and Jeffrey can inspect and analyze any roof problem to determine the best course of repair or replacement. They use their knowledge of roofing and building construction to solve and identify the source of water entry into your building. |
